He gigs constantly in pubs, clubs and at festivals, and support slots for acts such as Skerryvore, Chris Helme, Ewan McLennan, and The Red Dirt Skinners are a testimony to the high regard in which he is held on the roots music scene.

During the 1980s, Steve Dodds was guitarist and major songwriter with Leeds goth band Stiff Kittens, who released three singles with indie chart success, performed a Radio 1 session and were well-received at gigs around the UK and Europe. 

His Dogfinger Steve persona has been around since 2010, stomping out his own boutique brand of dirty swamp slide blues music on the three and four string cigar box guitars that he builds himself.
